Alliance for Children and Youth of Waterloo Region For Kids' Sake History Teamwork

In 1999 as the turn of the millennium approached, United Way of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area created a Millennium Task Force to determine an appropriate project to recognize the event. This task force put forth a recommendation to develop a long-term strategy to promote child wellness in the Region of Waterloo.

By 2001 the project sported a new name, tag line and vision. It was now called FOR KIDS’ SAKE and came under the guidance of United Way’s Community Capacity Building Committee.

In late spring 2002 a formal partnership between the Alliance and United Way was made official. By early fall, a full time coordinator was hired and the FOR KIDS’ SAKE initiative took on new energy. Activities were centralized and the continuity so difficult to achieve through volunteer committees was now beginning to develop.
